The Canadian Postal Curling Championships wrap up today at New Brunswick’s Miramichi Curling Club, with the semi-finals, between Nova Scotia and Northern Ontario, taking place at 9 this morning, and the winner taking on Alberta in the 1:30 pm final.
Alberta and Nova Scotia both finished round robin play with 9-2 win-loss records, while Northern Ontario went 8-3. Saskatchewan and New Brunswick were 7-4, and competed in a tiebreaker on Friday morning, with Saskatchewan grabbing the final playoff spot with an 8-7 win. PEI’s Bobby Cameron rink did not advance to the championship round, finishing round robin play with a 3-7 win-loss record.
In the Page playoff games on Friday, Alberta scored four points in the fourth end, and stole two in the final frame for a 10-7 victory over Nova Scotia in the Page 1 vs 2, to advance directly to the final. In the Page 3 vs 4, Northern Ontario fought back from a 6-2 deficit, scoring a triple in end eight, and stealing a triple and a deuce in the final ends to beat Saskatchewan 10-6, and grab a spot in the semi-final, against Nova Scotia.
