Ramsay, MacLean, Casey rinks in Quarter-finals at Codiac Junior Spiel

PEI’s Sam Ramsay and Matthew MacLean rinks, as well as the Halifax rink skipped by PEI native Anita Casey, have advanced to the quarter-finals at the Codiac Maritime Junior Spiel, being played at both the Beaver and Beausejour Curl Moncton locations, with male and female 15 & Under and 20 & Under divisions. The seven Island rinks competing were skipped by Katie Fullerton, Amanda MacLean, Matthew MacLean, Alex Matters, Rachel O’Connor, Sam Ramsay, and Jeffrey Taylor.

The quarter-final draws are at 8 and 10:30 this morning, with the Island rinks playing at 10:30. The semis are at 1 and the finals go at 3 pm. In the quarter-finals, the Ramsay team, which includes 3rd Matthew Nabuurs, second Connor MacPhee, and lead Shawn Pitre, with coach Rob Roberts, plays the Spencer Watts rink from Fredericton, while the Matthew MacLean rink, with Marshall Smallman, Kevin Gallant, and Alan MacLean, with coach Glen MacLean plays the Alex Rafuse foursome from Chester NS. On the junior women’s side, Casey takes on Mayflower clubmate Emily Manual. PEI’s Amanda MacLean rink is playing in the consolation finals at 1 pm.
