Edin and Middaugh win Sun Life Classic (Postmedia News)

Sherry Middaugh posted her third bonspiel win of the curling season Monday, beating Erika Brown in the final of the Sun Life Classic in Brantford, Ont.

Middaugh and her rink from Coldwater, Ont., ran the table at the event, posting a 7-0 record and capping it off with an 8-3 win over Brown in the final. Consecutive single-point steals in the fourth and fifth ends gave Middaugh a 5-1 lead against her American opponent and a three-spot in the seventh sealed the win.

Middaugh beat defending champion Jennifer Jones of Winnipeg 8-4 in the semifinals earlier Monday. Brown defeated Heather Smith-Dacey of Halifax 6-5 in the other semi.

PEI’s Suzanne Birt rink went 3-3 in the event, losing to Brown in their last game.
