PEI’s Brett Gallant and Moncton’s Terry Odishaw are undefeated after Friday play at the Molson Canadian Hub City Shootout cashspiel in Moncton, and have advanced to the quarter-final round in the triple knockout men’s section of the event. Gallant beat another Island rink, skipped by Robert Shaw, 7-1 this evening to advance to the money round, taking two in the opening end and stealing a triple in the second to grab an early lead. Odishaw edged Bruce Lohnes of Halifax 5-4 in his qualifier game.
Jamie Newson and Robert Campbell lost their C division games today, and are eliminated from further play. Shaw, Rod MacDonald and Mike Gaudet have one loss each in the B section.
Going into the Friday night late draw, only two games have been played in the women’s round robin, with Sandy Comeau defeating fellow New Brunswicker Mary Jane McGuire 7-5, and Moncton’s Sylvie Robichaud beating PEI’s Donna Butler rink 9-1.
