A young Kamloops athlete will hold high the Maple Leaf when the Canadian Youth Olympic team parades into Bergisel Stadium in Innsbruck, Austria, next week for the inaugural Winter Youth Olympic Games.
Corryn Brown, a 16-year-old curler who helped Team B.C. win gold at the 2010 Canada Winter Games, has been chosen as Canada’s flagbearer.

Brown, a skip, already has a number of championships behind her. She won the B.C. High School Curling Championship in both of the past two years. Curl B.C. named her the 2011 female athlete of the year. She was the B.C. provincial junior runner-up and juvenile gold medalist.
Her youth Olympic teammates include Thomas Scoffin, Derek Oryniak and [P.E.I.’s] Emily Gray.
