The Suzanne Birt ladies curling team leaves for the International Bernese Ladies Cup in Bern, Switzerland, on Tuesday.

The 32-team event gets underway on Friday, and runs for three days. This event has been one of the stops on the Women’s World Curling Tour since 2007, and this year will be the 44th year it is held, having began in 1967.

Teams earn points for performance, which accumulate and count towards events like the Olympic Trials and the Capital One Grand Slam of Curling that is coming to Summerside in April.

There is also $20,000 in purse money up for grabs.
