Emily Gray earns place in Youth Olympic Games history book (Journal)

It doesn’t matter how many Prince Edward Island athletes follow, Emily Gray will always have her place in the Youth Olympic Games history book.

The 17-year-old Milburn girl is the very first Prince Edward Islander to earn a Youth Olympic medal.

P.E.I. curler Emily Gray of O’Leary plays lead with the Canadian Winter Youth Olympics Curling team, skipped by Thomas Scoffin. The team also includes Derek Oryniak and Corryn Brown.

She did it in the very first Winter Youth Olympic Games which concluded Sunday in Innsbruck, Austria. The 2011 P.E.I. Canada Games women’s team curler was named to the Team Canada Mixed youth curling team less than a year ago. Since then she travelled all over the country honing her curling skills with her new teammates in preparation for an international multi-sport event that only a select few get to experience.
