CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI — Prince Edward Island will be well represented at the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts by the Kim Dolan rink, says Minister of Health and Wellness, Doug Currie.
“Kim showed great leadership and the team worked extremely well together throughout the weekend,” said Minister Currie. “Their combined experience and focus will make them a tough team at the Scotties.”
Dolan’s rink beat the Meaghan Hughes rink 6-4 in the finals Monday evening at the Charlottetown Curling Club. The rink made up of Dolan as skip, Rebecca Jean MacDonald as third, Sinead Dolan as second, lead Nancy Cameron and alternate Michala Robison will now head to Red Deer, Alberta for the 2012 Scotties Tournament of Hearts February 18 to 26.
“Prince Edward Island is extremely supportive of our Island athletes. On behalf of the Province of Prince Edward Island, I would like to congratulate the Dolan team and offer the team our best wishes in Red Deer,” said Minister Currie. “I would also like to congratulate all participants for their high level of play. It is encouraging to see so many women curling so competitively. This bodes well for the future of women’s curling in our province.”
