Sometimes, stuff just happens.
Just ask Prince Edward Island skip Kim Dolan.
The personable restaurant owner from Charlottetown skipped five P.E.I. teams at the Scotties.
Last time was nearly 20 years ago, back in 1992.
After teaming up with third Rebecca-Jean MacDonald, she’s back at the show.
“It’s been a little while,” said Dolan. “That’s 20 years ago. That’s wild.
“There were times I didn’t think I’d ever get back. I’ve stayed at the game and have been close in provincials several times. I’ve had great teams. You just have to have everything going your way.”

Even though Dolan made several appearances as fifth, her last at the hometown Scotties in 1999, Dolan got the bug to skip again.
“I went back skipping a couple of years ago and things happened,” said Dolan. “The team stuck together and they stuck behind me.”
In an event where there’s only two skips older than 40, Dolan is the veteran of the group.
At 53, she’s been eligible to curl at the senior level for three years.
She admitted that the last time she was at the Scotties, she couldn’t imagine curling against 50-year-olds.
Now, she’s there and still having fun.
