The two game championship round is set at the PEI Credit Unions Provincial Senior Women’s Curling Championships being played at the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton. The defending champion June Moyaert rink from the Montague Curling Club, who won their second of three triple knockout sections this morning with a 7-5 win over Paula Baglole and her Summerside rink in the C final, can take the title over four time champ Shirley Berry of Cornwall and Charlottetown with a victory in either this afternoon’s 3 pm game, or Tuesday’s 2 pm match. Berry, who won the A section, would have to win both games to win the championship.
Other members of the Moyaert rink are third Sherren MacKinnon, second Terri Thompson, and lead Kathy Clarey. Marj Campbell has been filling in for MacKinnon, who fell on the ice on Friday evening. Rounding out the Berry team are third Sandy Hope, second Shelley Ebbett, and lead stone Arleen Harris with coaches Bill Hope and Butch McGee.
The Senior Women’s champions will join the Senior Men’s winners, the Charlie Wilkinson foursome from Charlottetown, at the Canadian Seniors, March 17-25 in Abbotsford BC.
