Edmonton’s Heather Nedohin foursome beat the Anna Sidorova rink from Russia 8-2 Sunday in the lopsided final of the Prestige Hotels and Resorts Classic in Vernon BC, in a game that went only five ends, after Nedohin scored a deuce in the first end, and triples in ends 3 and 5. Nedohin goes home with $7,500, while Sidorova pocketed $5,000.

Sidorova eliminated Calgary’s Crystal Webster team, which includes PEI natives Erin Carmody at third, and Geri-Lynn Ramsay at second, in the Sunday morning quarter-finals by an 8-2 score, which included a four point fourth end, and fought back from a 3-1 deficit against defending champion Shannon Kleibrink of Calgary, stealing three consecutive ends for a 6-4 victory in the semi-final. Nedohin downed fellow Edmontonian Valerie Sweeting 7-1 in the quarters, and Renee Sonnenberg of Grande Prairie 6-4 in the semis, building up a 4-0 lead after four ends.
Semi-finalists Sonnenberg and Kleibrink each receive $4000, while Webster and the other quarter-finalists are all $2500 richer.
The Webster foursome, who recently launched their new website at www.teamwebster.ca, are back home in Calgary this coming weekend for the $54,000 Curlers Corner Autumn Gold Curling Classic, a Grand Slam event won last year by the Cathy Overton-Clapham rink, and taking place Oct. 5-8, hosted by the Calgary Curling Club.
