Respected national curling coach Bill Tschirhart scheduled for PEI stop

One of Canada’s most respected curling coaches will be on the Island later this month to run clinics for the province’s most talented juniors and interested adults.

Bill Tschirhart, who has been a national coach since 1994 with the Canadian Curling Association, will be at the Silver Fox Curling & Yacht Club in Summerside on Wednesday, October 31, and then at the Crapaud Community Curling Club the following day, providing instruction for advanced juniors and Canada Games hopefuls. In addition, he will also be running adult sessions. Tschirhart’s visit to PEI is part of a Maritime tour which will also take him to New Brunswick, an initiative through Curl Atlantic and the PEI Curling Association.

A provincial and master course conductor, Tschirhart has a worldwide reputation having coached in the USA, Australia, China and New Zealand, and for the past two years he has coached Canada’s men’s and women’s teams at the World Senior Curling Championships, winning three gold and one silver medal. He has also coached New Zealand and China at the Winter Olympic Games, and was the recipient of a Canadian Curling Association Award of Achievement in June.

Tschirhart ‘s session at the Silver Fox on October 31 will run from 6.30-9.30pm and will be specifically for advanced juniors and adults at the intermediate or competitive level.

There will be two clinics at Crapaud on Thursday November 1. The first session from 1.30-4.30pm is specifically for those curlers age eligible for the 2015 Canada Winter Games, while the 6.30-9.30pm clinic will again be for advanced juniors and adults.

The cost to register is $10 for the junior and Canada Games curlers, and $15 for the adults.
