The Charlottetown Curling Club is getting a new name today.
The new sign will read Charlottetown Curling Complex, finishing off about $50,000 in renovations as the business attempts to broaden its appeal.

It’s also celebrating its 125th anniversary and is throwing a big open house party Friday night, beginning at 8 p.m. with live music supplied by Sunday Punch at 9 p.m. Admission is free.
“We’re trying to underline the fact that we’re not just a curling club anymore,” said Rob Warren, manager and ice maker. “We have different services that we offer now.”
Introducing ‘complex’ into the name is designed to reflect the range of services, including Callbeck’s Bar & Grill, a new family restaurant named after former curling club bartender Don Callbeck who died suddenly three years ago.
The club has hired a full-time chef, Billy Shields, to run the new restaurant.
Besides that, the club has a pro shop, weekly live music and a dance hall.
The curling club opened 125 years ago on Grafton Street as part of a skating rink, moving to its current location on Euston Street about 75 years ago.
