PEI’s Mike Gaudet rink scored five points in the seventh end to beat the Rob Harris foursome from Halifax by a 10-5 score this afternoon to win the final of the third annual Atlantic Curling Tour‘s PEI Brewing Company Fall Classic cashspiel at the Montague Curling Club. Gaudet led the game 3-0 after two ends. Harris narrowed the gap to 3-2 after four, and tied it up at 5-all after six ends.
The Brent MacDougall rink from Halifax, who won the event in its first two years, lost in the semi-finals Sunday morning to the Harris rink, while the Gaudet team beat another PEI rink, skipped by Rod MacDonald, in the semis to advance to this afternoon’s final.
MacDougall, MacDonald, and Harris all went 4-0 in the round robin, while Gaudet went 3-1.
12 teams, from PEI and Nova Scotia, took part in the annual Atlantic Curling Tour event.
