No Island rinks in championship round at ACT Championship-Mike Gaudet loses out in tiebreaker

The quarter-finals get underway at 9 this morning at the Atlantic Curling Tour Championship in Moncton, but none of the three Island rinks entered – skipped by Mike Gaudet, Rod MacDonald, and Jamie Newson, are in them. The semis go at noon, with the finals at 3 pm.

Gaudet finished with a 2-1 win-loss record in his round robin pool, but lost 6-4 to Jamie Murphy and his Nova Scotia rink in a tiebreaker, and did not advance to the money round. MacDonald and Newson both went 1-2 in their pool, with Newson beating MacDonald 6-2 in their encounter.

The quarters see Qualifier #1 Stuart Thompson (NS) play Qualifier #8 Peter Burgess (NS), Qualifier #2 Jason Vaughan (NB) take on #7, James Grattan (NB), #3 Marc Lecocq (NB) face #5 Jamie Murphy (NS), and #4 Zach Eldridge (NB) play #6 Terry Odishaw (NB)
