Rod MacDonald throws his stone during play at the provincial men’s curling championship Thursday in Crapaud.

MacDonald scored a triple in the 10th end for a 6-5 victory over Robert Shaw (Charlottetown). Shaw stole a deuce in the ninth when MacDonald’s draw was five inches too long to break a 3-3 tie.

MacDonald had a draw for three with his final rock and nailed it this time, but not without some tense moments.

“My last one picked about 10 feet over the hog-line but it still had enough weight to get to the house,” MacDonald said last night.

“It jumped about three feet sideways, so I got a little worried about it but the guys got it there.”

The four-time provincial champ said it was important victory as a win this morning gives him one of the four playoff berths.
