PEI loses 9-6 to NS this afternoon at the Scotties

PEI’s Suzanne Birt rink drops to a 4-5 win-loss record at the Scotties in Kingston, following a 9-6 loss to Nova Scotia’s Mary-Anne Arsenault rink this afternoon.  Nova Scotia picked up a deuce in end 2 to lead 3-1, but Birt tied it up 4-all at the half. NS was kept to a single in six, and things were looking good for Birt in 7, after making a difficult double runback to kill two NS stones. However, Birt then missed an open hit, giving up a steal of two. PEI gave up another stolen deuce in eight when Birt attempted, but didn’t make, a runback for 2. Birt drew for a deuce in nine, to trail 9-6 without hammer coming home. In the 10th, Birt drew into the rings for 2. Arsenault knocked one out to run PEI out of rocks, and it went into the books as a 9-6 final. NS improves to 4-4. PEI has the night off, and finishes up round robin play against Alberta Friday morning and Ontario in the afternoon.
