While PEI’s Rod MacDonald and Nola Murphy rinks don’t have to travel very far to attend the Canadian Seniors, starting Saturday in Summerside, several PEI natives, now living in Calgary and St. John’s, are on the road this week, with Erin Carmody and her boyfriend Chris Schille competing in the inaugural Canadian Mixed Doubles Trials in Leduc Alberta, which gets underway at 7 this evening. Meanwhile, Manitoba’s Cathy Overton-Clapham is taking Carmody’s place on the Crystal Webster rink from Calgary, which also includes PEI native Geri-Lynn Ramsay. They’re off to the Pomeroy Inn & Suites: Prairie Showdown in Grande Prairie AB, along with Newfoundland and Labrador’s Brad Gushue rink, which includes PEI natives Brett Gallant and Adam Casey. You can follow their results at http://www.prairieshowdown.org (although the website doesn’t appear to be working at the moment). The Showdown also starts this evening.
