SUMMERSIDE – The Prince Edward Island women’s representative at the 2013 Canadian senior curling championships is looking forward to a very enjoyable and memorable experience.

“We are pretty excited,” said P.E.I. skip Nola Murphy of Summerside. “We are certainly looking forward to having a lot of fun, and socializing with all of these teams from the other provinces. It’s the thrill of a national.”

Murphy added there has been a “lot of enthusiasm” this week leading up to the nationals.

“Things are falling into place, the place looks awesome,” added Murphy.

 Murphy is joined on Team P.E.I. by third stone Donna Arsenault, second stone Elspeth Carmody and lead Laurie Tirone.

“Elspeth, Donna and I have been together for at least three years,” added Murphy. “Elspeth, Donna and I also went to the Dominion nationals in November.”

The rink curls out of the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club, which is the host venue for the nine-day national event from March 16 to 24.

“It’s our first time at the seniors, and in order to get here it was a big accomplishment,” said Murphy. “We just want to take it one rock at a time, and if we curl the best we can, then we have just as much chance to do well if we all play our shots and I call the game the way it should be called.”
