PEI Under 18 teams playing in BC and Newfoundland

It’s a busy weekend at both ends of the country for PEI Under 18 curlers,with the O’Connor Glass PEI Under 18 champs playing in the Optimist International Under 18 Curling championships in Surrey and Langley BC, and the runners-up participating tin the Atlantic Championships in Stephenville NL.

At the Optimist, the Team PEI men, skipped by Tony Nabuurs, lost to Alberta and Ontario Friday, both in the last end. Team PEI women, skipped by Jenny McLean, lost to Manitoba and BC on Friday. Both PEI teams are sitting at 1-2, with 2 games each on Saturday – PEI women play Pennsylvania (2-1) and men play Quebec (0-3) in the morning, while the women play Michigan (0-3) and the men play Pennsylvania (1-2) in the afternoon.

In the Atlantics, Tyler Smith lost 6-5 to former Islander Kyle Hughes,while Emily Keen scored a triple in the last end to edge Newfoundland and Labrador’s Sarah Hill team 7-6.The Keen rink play New Brunswick and the host team, both 1-1, today, while Smith and his team play NS (2-0) and NL (1-0) today.
