Calgary’s Crystal Webster rink, which includes PEI native Geri-Lynn Ramsay, beat the Amber Holland foursome from Regina 9-2 last night in a C-side qualifier in the triple-knockout Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries Women’s Classic World Curling Tour event in Winnipeg, to advance to this morning’s quarter-final round, where they’ll be playing Winnipeg’s Jennifer Jones foursome, at noon PEI time. The final goes at 7 pm Atlantic. The lucrative event has a $15,000 prize for the winning team, with the runner-up rink getting $10,000, $6000 going to 3rd and 4th place, and the remaining qualifiers going home with $3700. There is also a $100 per win payout up to the qualifying round.
The Laura Crocker rink out of Edmonton, which includes PEI native Erin Carmody at 3rd stone, had a 1-3 win-loss record in the event, and did not qualify for today’s money round.
The Crocker and Webster rinks will both be competing in the Road to the Roar Olympic Pre-Trials, Nov. 5-10 in Kitchener Ont.
