National curling coach Tschirhart wrapped up successful visit to PEI Friday evening in Montague

Bill Tschirhart, one of Canada’s most respected curling coaches, and a national coach since 1994 with the Canadian Curling Association, was on PEI this week running clinics for juniors, adults, and coaches. Tschirhart’s visit to PEI is part of a tour of the four Atlantic Provinces – an initiative of Curl Atlantic.His visit to PEI was very successful, with great turnouts at each event.

A large number of curlers were on hand Friday night at the Montague Curling Club, as he wrapped up his tour here with an on-ice clinic.

A provincial and master course conductor, Tschirhart has a worldwide reputation having coached in the USA, Australia, China and New Zealand, and for the past three years he has coached Canada’s men’s and women’s teams at the World Senior Curling Championships, winning three gold and one silver medal. He has also coached New Zealand and China at the Winter Olympic Games, and was the recipient of a Canadian Curling Association Award of Achievement in June 2012.

While here, he held an on-ice session at the Crapaud Community Curling Club on Wednesday afternoon, followed by an evening off-ice Coaches and Instructors clinic at the Cornwall Curling Club. Thursday was spent with the participants of the Curl PEI-Canada Winter Games Team Prep Program, with Friday evening’s on-ice adult curlers session at Montague wrapping up his time here.
