Sport PEI, in partnership with SCORE Sport Charlottetown, is looking for that special moment in sport that will be remembered. Here are the criteria and details:

What was that special moment in your sport that stood out this month?

• The SCORE of the Month Award is open to teams and individuals who perform solo or as part of a team.
• A “team” is defined as a number of persons associated together in an activity. This includes all-star teams and contingents competing in individual disciplines in which there is a recognized team award.
• To be eligible, athletes/teams must participate in a sport which is a recognized member of Sport PEI
• An athlete or team may only win this award once per calendar year.
• The specific nomination deadline date will be the 5th of the following month.
• Please try to attach an action shot of athlete or team when sending in nomination.
• The Awards and Recognition Committee will review all nominations and determine the award recipient. The decisions of the Awards and Recognition Committee are final.
• The award recipient(s) will receive a gift from Sport PEI sponsored by SCORE, all nominees for the current month will be mentioned in a press release.

Amateur Sport Awards

Sport PEI is once again calling upon the public and Island sport groups for nominations for the 2013 Amateur Sport Awards, which will be presented at the annual awards dinner, April 9, 2014. The nomination deadline is January 10 2014.

Islanders have enjoyed some outstanding successes in the past twelve months, and Sport PEI is looking for nominations in both the senior male and female athlete of the year categories, as well as the junior athlete awards, for those who are aged 18 or younger as of January 1 2014. In addition nominations are called for in the categories of team, coach, intercollegiate athlete (male and female), administrator, official and masters athlete (for those aged 35 and over).

Jared Connaughton was the big winner at the 39th Sport PEI Annual Awards banquet held at the Rodd Royalty in Charlottetown last April. Olympic sprinter Jared won both the Bell Aliant Senior Male Athlete of the Year Award, and the Lieutenant Governor’s Award, for Outstanding Island Athlete. Swimmer Janet Gamble won the Bell Aliant Senior Female Athlete of the Year Award.
