It’s crunch time across Canada for Tim Hortons Brier (CCA)

(by Graham Lloyd) The quest to be on the ice, in the national spotlight, for the 2014 Tim Hortons Brier, March 1-9 at the Interior Savings Centre in Kamloops, will be underway in curling clubs and arenas across the country over the next two weeks.

Every team that embraces the dream of hoisting the Brier Tankard, the most coveted trophy in the history of competitive curling, will first have to play their way through provincial and territorial playdowns.

In the Atlantic region, the road to the Tim Hortons Brier begins Jan. 27 in Newfoundland/ Labrador, where 2006 Olympic gold-medallist Brad Gushue will be shooting for an 11th appearance at the Canadian men’s curling championship.

Provincial playdowns take place Feb. 4-9 in Nova Scotia, followed by the New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island championships, Feb. 5-9.

Updates on qualifiers from across the country will be featured on the Curling.ca and Tim Hortons Brier websites.
