We’re golden, three times over!
Canada’s wheelchair curling team of skip Jim Armstrong, third Ina Forrest, second Dennis Thiessen, lead Sonja Gaudet and alternate Mark Ideson defeated Russia 8-3 on Saturday at the Ice Cube Curling Centre in Sochi in the Paralympic Winter Games gold-medal game.
It kept alive Canada’s perfect record of wheelchair curling gold medals at the Paralympics, started by Chris Daw in 2006 at Torino and extended by Armstrong in 2010 in Vancouver.
Gaudet made history as the first Paralympian to win gold medals in three consecutive Games, while it was a second Paralympic gold for both Armstrong and Forrest.
Team Canada is coached by Joe Rea, with Wayne Kiel serving as the assistant coach and Wendy Morgan as the Team Leader.
