MacLean wins, Rogers loses Codiac Consolation finals, McLean bows out in U20 women’s semi

Most PEI competitive junior rinks saw action this weekend at the Codiac Junior Spiel in Moncton.
The Matthew MacLean rink from the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club and the Cornwall Curling Club, won the Men’s Under 20 consolation round final this afternoon, edging the Julien Tremblay rink from Rimouski Quebec 5-4 in the final game. Other members of the MacLean rink are third Alan MacLean, second Jordan MacLean and Lead Noah O’Connor, with coach Glen MacLean..

The Kristie Rogers team from the Cornwall Curling Club lost their Under 16 Men’s and Women’s consolation round final, 9-1 to the Joshua Nowlan team from Moncton. The Rogers rink includes third MacKenzie Stewart, second stone Olivia MacPhail, and lead Rachel MacLean, and is coached by Brenda MacMillan.

The Jenny McLean rink from Cornwall lost out in the women’s Under 20 semi-final round. The team includes third Lauren MacFadyen, second Emily Vaniderstine, and lead Aleya Quilty, with coach Butch McGee.

The Kaleigh MacKay rink from Crapaud and the Lauren Moerike team from Charlottetown both lost out in the women’s Under 20 consolation semi-finals. The MacKay team includes Danielle Collings, Alyssa Wright and Kaleigh Peters, with coach AJ Campbell. Other members of the Moerike squad are Ashley Gallant, and Annika and Tati Kelly, with coach Angela Hodgson

The championship division winners were all from the Halifax area:  Jonathan Crouse (Men’s 20 and Under), Kristin Clarke (Women’s 20 and Under), and Liam Moore (Men and Women’s 16 and Under).

Other PEI team in the event were the Donald DeWolfe team from Cornwall, the Jane DiCarlo foursome from Charlottetown, the Lauren Lenentine rink from Cornwall, Team Alex MacFadyen from the Silver Fox, the Tyler Smith squad from Montague, and the Veronica Smith foursome from Cornwall.
