Smith headed back to Canada Games (Journal)-updated

SUMMERSIDE – Tyler Smith is headed back to the Canada Winter Games.

Tyler Smith calls a shot during Saturday afternoon’s Canada Games curling trials at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside.

Smith, who skipped P.E.I.’s men’s curling team at the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax, N.S., has earned a return trip to the national competition.

“It feels better than the first one,” said Smith, who is heading back with a completely different team that was put together at the start of last season and calls the Montague Curling Club home. “Not too many people go twice, so that is what makes it so special.”

Smith, 16; third stone Brooks Roche, 17; second stone Dylan Lowery, 17, and lead Ryan Lowery, 14, swept the best-of-three series between the two Canada Games men’s training teams on Saturday to earn the right to represent P.E.I. in Prince George, B.C., in February 2015.
