Dolan stays alive in PEI Scotties (Journal)

SUMMERSIDE – There are still three rinks remaining in the 2015 Scotties provincial women’s curling championship.

Kim Dolan staved off elimination in the 2015 Scotties provincial women’s curling championship at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside on Sunday morning.

Defending-champion Kim Dolan of the Charlottetown Curling Complex scored three with the hammer in the 10th end to outlast clubmate Kathy O’Rourke 9-6 in the C section semifinal on Sunday morning, and stay alive in the modified triple-knockout format. Dolan, who is 3-2, will now face Birt in the C section final at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside on Sunday at 3 p.m.

O’Rourke (2-2) and Birt (2-1) have already guaranteed berths in Monday’s championship round by winning the A and B sections. If Birt wins the C section, O’Rourke will have to defeat her twice on Monday.

If Dolan wins the C section, she and O’Rourke will meet at 1 p.m., and the winner will face Birt in the final at 6 p.m. If there are three different section winners, Birt will receive a bye to the final because she would have appeared in the most finals.
