The Jamie Newson rink from Charlottetown, and the Adam Casey team from Charlottetown and the Silver Fox in Summerside are meeting again, this time in the B final at 3:30 this afternoon at the Curl PEI Tankard Provincial Men’s Curling Championships at the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton.
The two teams faced off earlier, in the A final, with unseeded Newson upsetting top seed Casey by a 6-4 score. Casey advanced to the B final with an 11-3 win in six ends today over Charlottetown’s Tyler MacKenzie rink, taking three triples and a four point end on the way to the win. If Newson also wins the B final, he will have two chances to defeat his opponent in the Monday two game championship round.
MacKenzie also plays at 3 pm in the “must win” C division of the modified triple knockout, against clubmate Robert Campbell, who eliminated another Charlottetown team, skipped by Tyler Harris, by a 7-2 score in the 11 am draw, aided by a 5 point 7th end.
