Apologies for the outage on our website from approximately 3-7:30 pm yesterday. The problem, the first outage of more than a few minutes that we have had since switching to a dedicated server at iWeb in January 2011, had to do with a fault with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) in their Montreal data centre, discovered after a six minute data centre power outage, and would have affected hundreds of “Smart” servers like ours, as well as newer “Cloud” servers. This loss of power “had a secondary effect on our internal systems that affected our servers’ ability to reboot”. It took up to 5 hours for them to resolve the problems and bring all the servers back online.
