The UPEI Women’s team, skipped by Veronica Smith, finished round robin play last night in second place, with a 3-1 win-loss record at the UPEI-hosted Subway Atlantic University Sport Curling Championship in Montague, and have earned a berth in the 9 am semi-finals, against third place St. FX (2-2). The winner will go on to face undefeated Saint Mary’s in the final, scheduled for 1 pm. Other members of Team UPEI are Jane DiCarlo, Emily Gray, and Aleya Quilty, with coach Paul Smith. The St. FX team,skipped by Ashley Francis, includes PEI natives and former Montague Curling Club members Carolyn Rose and (alternate) Sarah MacPhee.
UPEI beat St. FX 9-3 in their round robin encounter, but lost 7-6 to SMU in an extra end in an extremely tight contest. They doubled DAL 10-5 and downed UNB 10-3 in their other games.
SMU takes on DAL in the 9 am Men’s semi, with the winner playing UNB in the 1 pm final.

The top two men’s teams and top two women’s teams will advance to the 2015 CIS-CCA University Championship in Waterloo, Ontario from March 18-21, 2015.
