Rough day at Brier on Tues. for Casey rink, who play Gushue this morning (Journal)

CALGARY – It was a day to forget for the Adam Casey rink.

Summerside native Anson Carmody is the second stone with P.E.I.’s Adam Casey rink at the 2015 Tim Hortons Brier in Calgary.

The P.E.I. representatives at the 2015 Tim Hortons Brier dropped two games on Tuesday to a pair of the pre-tournament favourites. Alberta’s Kevin Koe doubled Casey 8-4 in the morning draw, and defending Olympic gold-medallist Brad Jacobs of Northern Ontario stole nine points in an 11-1 victory in the afternoon. Jacobs is the only undefeated team at 6-0 (won-lost).

Casey, third stone Josh Barry, second stone Anson Carmody, lead Robbie Doherty, fifth player Robert Campbell and coach Lincoln Peters now sport a record of 2-4 (won-lost) at the Canadian men’s curling championship.

They will take on Newfoundland and Labrador’s Brad Gushue on Wednesday morning (11:30 Atlantic), and Saskatchewan’s Steve Laycock in the evening draw (9:30 Atlantic). Both Gushue (5-2) and Laycock (4-2) played in Tuesday’s late draw, with Gushue winning 8-6 over Ontario, and Laycock losing 7-5 to Quebec.

Jacobs is the only undefeated team remaining at 7-0. Koe (3-3) lost a much-anticipated showdown with Team Canada (4-3) on Tuesday night by a 6-3 score. [Tues. late draw scores/standings added]
