Fanshawe wins CCAA women’s curling gold, Holland College Hurricanes finish with 2-5 record

The Holland College Hurricanes women’s curling team, who curl out of the Cornwall Curling Club, finished round robin play with a 2-5 win-loss record at the Canadian Collegiate Athletics Association (CCAA) Nationals, which wrapped up Saturday in Olds Alberta. The Fanshawe Falcons won the women’s title, beating the Humber Hawks 4-2 in the championship game. The men’s section was won by the Fleming Knights, who doubled the Fanshawe Falcons 8-4 in the gold medal match.

The Holland College team is coached by Angela Hodgson and is made up of lead Bethany Dauphinee (Liverpool, NS), second Sabrina Smith (Breadalbane, PEI), third Breanna Huntley (New Minas, NS), skip Jaylene Holmes-Tang (Gravenhurst, ON) and alternate Kellie-Lynn Younker (Cornwall, PEI). Holmes-Tang was also a member of the Hurricanes varsity golf team that competed at the CCAA National Golf Championships in Quebec in the fall.
