A product of the junior curling program at the Silver Fox in Summerside, Ramsay has been living and curling in the Calgary area for almost six years.
“It’s surprising (it’s been that long),” chuckled Ramsay, who has also played the second- and third-stone positions throughout her competitive career. She played third stone with P.E.I.’s Kathy O’Rourke team that earned a silver medal in the 2010 Canadian women’s curling championship.
Ramsay is now in her second year as skip.
“I really like (skipping),” said Ramsay, 28. “It’s kind of like playing a whole new game.
“The not sweeping thing is interesting. I really like it a lot, and I’m learning every game I play. I take something away from it every time I step on the ice.”
This is the first year Ramsay, third stone Jody McNabb, second stone Brittany Tran and lead Claire Tully have curled together as a team. Although it’s considered a new team, the front end curled last season with Ramsay.
“Claire and Brittany are great,” said Ramsay. “They work really, really hard on the ice and off the ice. They get along really well, and they were competitors through their junior careers.”
