ST. JOHN’S – Adam Casey bounced back in a big way on Sunday.
After dropping a 6-5 decision to Manitoba’s Mike McEwen in Saturday afternoon’s opening draw at the 2017 Tim Hortons Brier, Casey and his Saskatchewan rink of third stone Catlin Schneider, second stone Shaun Meachem and lead Dustin Kidby won twice on Day 2 of the main draw at the Canadian men’s curling championship.
The Casey rink, which is based out of the Highland Curling Club in Regina, counted threes in the first and ninth ends in an 11-5 win over Alberta’s Brendan Botcher in the morning draw. Team Casey returned to the Mile One Centre ice in the afternoon to top Jamie Koe’s rink from the Northwest Territories by an 8-3 score.
Casey will take a 2-1 (won-lost) record into Monday’s action. He plays Quebec’s Jean-Michel Ménard in the afternoon, and Newfoundland and Labrador’s Brad Gushue in the evening.
