More details on Sat. Celebration Gala for Brett Gallant. Lounge open to public at 10 pm

Here’s a run-down of the activities at Saturday evening’s Brett Gallant Celebration Gala at the Charlottetown Curling Complex.

The evening will begin at 6 pm with the piping-in of the guest of honour to a reception in the lounge  area, where guests will enjoy conversation and a selection of seafood including mussels, chowder and oysters. Guests will then join Brett and his family, along with various dignitaries, in a delicious dinner of lobster, ham, rolls, potato salad, coleslaw and sweets lovingly prepared by the St. John’s United Church women’s group in Mt Stewart.

Well-known curler and entertainer Robbie Doherty will be the Master of Ceremonies for the dinner. Robbie has also been a Brier contender, and promises plenty of good stories! Video cameras and screens will be used to project images of Brett’s rise to stardom for all to see.

After the Gala dinner, guests will be invited to stay for local entertainment by Sam Ramsay in the downstairs lounge, with accompaniment by Sarah Simpson on the small pipes. For those just wishing to take in the “après scene”, doors will be open to the public after 10 pm, with a modest cover charge. Bar sales will continue until the end of the evening.

During the Gala, raffle tickets will be sold for some great prizes, including a lovely watercolor painting by Louise Carota; a wonderful golf package, with golf in PEI and Chester, NS; autographed jerseys by Brett; a weekend about town, and a package to the PEI International Shellfish Festival.
