PEI’s Parker MacFadyen wins Mixed Doubles Bronze at Canadian Juniors (Curling Canada)

The duo of Pearl Gillis of the Northwest Territories and Karsten Sturmay of Alberta, with coach Daniel Bédard of Quebec, captured the gold medal in the mixed doubles tournament at the 2018 New Holland Canadian Junior Curling Championships on Sunday.

The mixed doubles tournament featured all of the players and coaches who didn’t qualify for the playoffs at the 2018 New Holland Canadian Juniors.

Gillis and Sturmay were 8-4 winners over Grace Holyoke (Ontario) and Felipe Marin (New Brunswick), with coach Kevin Patterson (Yukon).

Emma Wallingford (Ontario) and Parker MacFadyen (Prince Edward Island), with coach Brett Reddekopp (Saskatchewan), won the bronze medal with a 4-3 triumph over Kendra Lemieux (Northern Ontario) and Brayden Klassen (Yukon), with Wallingford winning the draw-to-the-button tiebreaker over Lemieux after the game ended in a 3-3 deadlock.
