Mount Allison edges UPEI Women’s Panthers in close game to advance to AUS final

The women’s team from Mount Allison University in Sackville NB edged the Veronica Smith-skipped UPEI Women’s Panthers team by a 3-2 score this morning to advance to the Subway Atlantic University Sports final at 1 pm at Fredericton’s Capital Winter Club. Mt. A will be playing the Memorial University team, who got by Dalhousie 8-7 in an extra end. Dal and UNB face off in the Men’s final.

Update: Mount Allison defeated Memorial 6-2 in the women’s final. The UNB rink, which includes Summerside’s Alex Gallant, lost 8-1 to the Robert Mayhew-skipped Dalhousie entry in the men’s championship game.

The two men’s and two women’s teams in the finals will represent the Atlantic conference at the 2018 U SPORTS / CCA Curling Championships hosted by the University of Alberta, March 24-28 in Leduc, AB.
