First draw in the books at PEI provincial mixed curling (Journal)

Tyler MacKenzie scored two with hammer in the extra end to score a 7-5 win over the Calvin Smith rink from Crapaud in the opening draw of the P.E.I. Provincial Mixed Curling championship Friday morning at the Western Community Curling Club in Alberton. Smith had scored one with hammer in the eighth end to tie the game and force an extra end against the Charlottetown rink.

Daryl MacDonald from the Western Community Curling Club turns his stone over to sweepers, John Ellsworth and Cheryl Bell. MacDonald opened play at the P.E.I. Provincial Mixed Curling Championship in Alberton with a 7-5 win over the Corey Miller rink from the Silver Fox. – Eric McCarthy

 Teams from the host club won the other two games in the opening draw. Freddy Fraser was up 4-0 after three ends en route to doubling the Glen Betts rink from the Maple Leaf and Western clubs 6-3 and Daryl MacDonald stole the first two ends and then rode a sixth end hit for three to a 7-5 win over the Corey Miller rink from the Silver Fox.
