PEI’s run ends at Scotties after dropping two one-point decisions on Friday (Journal)

P.E.I.’s run at the 2019 Scotties Tournament of Hearts came to an end on Friday night.

The Mitchell O’Shea-coached Suzanne Birt rink from the Charlottetown Curling Complex dropped two one-point decisions on the final day of the championship round to complete play 6-5 (won-lost). Birt lost 7-6 in an extra end to Ontario’s Rachel Homan (8-3) in the afternoon draw, and Northern Ontario’s Krista McCarville (8-3) also edged P.E.I. 7-6 in the evening draw.

Ontario and Northern Ontario will play an elimination game on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., and Alberta’s Chelsea Carey (9-2) and Saskatchewan’s Robyn Silvernagle (8-3) will play in the 1-2 game on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The winner of that game will advance directly to Sunday’s final at 6 p.m., and the losing rink will face the winner of Ontario and Northern Ontario in a semifinal game Sunday at noon.
