Suzanne Birt rink 4-0, earns bye to noon semis at Dave Jones Mayflower Cashspiel in Halifax

Charlottetown’s Suzanne Birt rink are undefeated with a 4-0 win-loss record at the Dave Jones Stanhope Simpson Insurance Cashspiel at the Mayflower Curling Club in Halifax, and have the morning off, earning a bye to the 12 noon semi-finals, where they will face the winner of a 9 am quarter-final match between Theresa Breen and Mary-Anne Arsenault (both from the Halifax Regional Municipality, both 2-2). The finals go at 3 pm.

Also undefeated with a bye to the semi-finals is the Tori Koana foursome from Yamanashi Japan. They will face the winner of a 9 am quarter-final match between Nova Scotia’s Tanya Hillard rink (3-1) and the Jill Brothers foursome from Halifax (2-2), which includes Islander Erin Carmody at third. Team Brothers has won this event four years in a row, including three with Carmody at third.

PEI’s Veronica Smith rink lost 5-3 to Birt in their round-robin encounter, and finished play at 1-3.

No PEI teams are entered in the Men’s event. Qusrters are at 9 am, semis at noon, final at 3.
