Provincial junior curling championships underway in Crapaud (Journal)

Opening draw held Friday morning

CRAPAUD, P.E.I. — The Pepsi provincial junior curling championships got underway at the Crapaud Community Curling Club on Friday.

A total of four women’s and three men’s entries are competing in the under-21 age category.
Lauren Ferguson, who skipped last year’s provincial champions, opened play with an 11-5 win over Rachel MacLean in a battle of Cornwall Curling Club rinks on Friday morning.
Clara Jack defeated Katie Shaw 13-5 in another all-Cornwall battle while the lone men’s game in the opening draw featured defending-champion Tyler Smith and his Cornwall Curling Club rink top clubmate Mitchell Schut 8-1.
Draws continued Friday afternoon and evening. Saturday’s draws are scheduled for 10 a.m., and 3 p.m., with Sunday’s action taking place at 9 a.m., 2 p.m., and 7 p.m.
