Sport PEI Awards: Curler Brett Gallant wins Sr. Male Athlete of the Year and Lieut. Governor’s award

It was a great night for Brett Gallant at the Sport PEI Awards in Charlottetown, winning both the Cox & Palmer Senior Male Athlete of the Year and the Lieutenant Governor’s Award. Brett is in St. John’s NL preparing for The Brier, but sent along an acceptance video, with his mother Kathie accepting on his behalf. Gallant also won these same 2 awards in 2017.

Brett Gal­lant curled with Team Gushue and mixed dou­bles part­ner Jo­ce­lyn Peter­man in 2019. Team Gushue fin­ished the sea­son ranked fourth af­ter the Brier, where Gal­lant was named a se­cond team all-star. Peter­man and Gal­lant won the Cana­dian mixed dou­bles and took home sil­ver at the world mixed dou­bles cham­pi­onship.

Wrestler Hannah Taylor won the Senior Female Athlete of the Year honours.

President’s Award – Kevin Quinn, softball.
CBC P.E.I. team of the year – P.E.I. Wave under-16 ringette.
