The PEI Curling Club championships are down to one game, with the men’s title on the line, at 6 pm, following a pair of wins by Silver Fox teams on Monday afternoon at the Charlottetown Curling Club. The Silver Fox women’s team, skipped by Veronica Smith, finished the event undefeated (7-0), edging the Crapaud Community Curling Club women, skipped by Stephanie Schnare, by a 5-4 score in the final. Smith had a bye to that final, while Crapaud advanced after their scheduled morning game against Western Community was forfeited by the Alberton team.

The Silver Fox men, skipped by Leo Stewart, picked up a pair of Monday wins, beating Western Community 10-6 in their morning semi-final, helped out by a six-point third end, to punch their ticket to the first of two possible finals, on Monday afternoon, where they went on to force a deciding game at 6 pm by handing the Charlottetown team, captained by Paul MacCormack, their first loss in the event, by a close 6-5 score. Had Charlottetown taken the game they would have won the championship, but they now face off again against the Silver Fox team in the deciding game at 6 pm.

The Summerside women’s team and the winning men’s rink will advance to the 2020 Everest Canadian Curling Club Championships, which will take place Nov. 22-28 at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club.
