Curl PEI Member Survey Results

On behalf of the Curl PEI executive and staff, I would like to thank everyone who participated in our recent Curl PEI Member Survey.  The response rate was quite strong with 155 people completing the survey.  We are excited to share the results with you; a copy of the report/data is located below.

We are planning to establish a 5 – 7 member working committee to study the survey results for the purpose of influencing the policy direction and approaches for the 2021-2022 curling season.  Our rationale for this includes:

o   Pandemic environment: With so much uncertainty due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, we are unsure of the policy changes and/or operational guidelines that will be required to operate during the 2020-2021 curling season.  We will need to have the time and capacity to be able to address all requirements to help ensure the curling clubs and our own events operate as allowed next season.

o   Lead time for change: While the survey results will be valuable as we plan for the future of curling in PEI, many plans, decisions and commitments are already in place for the upcoming 2020-2021 season.  The approval process, for both policy and operations, can be time-consuming exercises.

o   Thoughtful use of the survey results will require time: Input for some responses does not provide clear direction; therefore, the right change to make is not obvious.  For example, 34.19% said Curl PEI should follow the same residency policy as Curling Canada; 34.84% said we should not follow Curling Canada; and 15.48% said no preference.

If you have an interest in being a part of the survey working committee, please let us know. We will be reaching out to those who provided their contact information and/or expressed an interest in further discussion on the residency policy.

Again, thank you for your time and thoughtful feedback; please feel free to contact us if you have any comments, questions or wish to become involved.

We look forward to working with you to help our sport grow and thrive in PEI.

Have a wonderful day.
