Halifax’s Taylour Stevens rink, now with PEI’s Lauren Ferguson, opens season against Team Colleen Jones (with video)

Spring Valley PEI’s Lauren Ferguson (centre in photo), who is attending Dalhousie University in Halifax this year, had her first in-person meeting with her new team, Nova Scotia’s reigning Junior Women’s champions, skipped by Taylour Stevens, on Sunday evening, where she was presented with her new team jersey.

The team includes Lead: Cate Fitzgerald Second: Kate Callaghan Third: Lauren Ferguson Skip: Taylour Stevens and Coach: Mary Mattatall.

This weekend they are kicking things off with their season-opening bonspiel at their home Halifax Curling Club, with the HCC Tuneup Spiel, where they took on two-time women’s world champion and six-time Tournament of Hearts Canadian women’s champion Colleen Jones and her team.

Team Stevens streamed the game live on their Facebook page. For the record, Jones won 8-3.
