PEI’s Mitchell Schut team hits the ice this evening in Halifax U21 Spiel

The 2020-2021 curling season gets underway at 7:45 this evening at the Halifax Curling Club for the Mitchell Schut team from the Cornwall Curling Club, who are participating in the IG Private Wealth Management Freeman Group U21 Spiel, with 8 teams in both the junior men’s and the junior women’s divisions.

No other PEI teams are entered, but the Josh Nowlan team from New Brunswick is in the event. Josh is the grandson of Summerside curlers Lou and Marg Nowlan. The event wraps up on Sunday.

Both divisions have two pools of four teams playing a round-robin format. The top two teams of each pool make the playoff round.

Prize Payout for each division:

1st– $1,000  —   2nd– $700  —   3rd– $500  —   4th– $300

Teams 5th through 8th will play last two games with $50 pay per win.
