Gordon Lapp (Facebook)

“Gord was a great supporter of the Silver Fox Complex, and the yachting and curling that went along with it. He said he had to learn a lot about these, but as an astute businessman, he knew people, and knew that to grow and support all aspects of the complex, working together with the people involved was key. The Fox came a long way under his helm. And for that, among many other things, we are grateful.

On behalf of the Silver Fox curling community, I wish to extend the deepest condolences to his wife Micheline, and his son Alex. He will be greatly missed. Rest In Peace my friend.”

He was a widely known and beloved member of the Atlantic music, film, & culinary industries and his many colleagues across this country are joining his family and friends in mourning his loss. Gordon was sixty-three years old and still doing innovative and inspiring work before he died.  He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary Micheline Gallant; son, Alexander Keith (Alexandra Oakley); brothers, Thomas Charles “Chuck” (Sherri Cline) & Alan Keith (Trish Kinshella); sisters, Anne Elizabeth (David Krabill) & Ruth Christina (Brian March); nieces Victoria, Andrea, Rachel, & Alison (Lapp), Elizabeth (March), Martha & Grace (Krabill); nephews Ben and Paul (Krabill); cousins Lynn, Kathy, Blake, Susie, Laurie, Murray, Pete, Robert , Valerie, Sandy & Patti.   He was predeceased by his parents, Keith Thomas Nelson Lapp and Eleanor Christina Wimperis; his sister Martha Eleanor; his brother-in-law Brian March; and his nephews Allan David Krabill & Michael Clarke Anderson Lapp.

Gordon was born in Summerside. He graduated from Three Oaks High School and began his career in the music promotion industry in the 1970’s. From 1983-1994 he created and ran with his partner Emery Perry The Regent restaurant and nightclub which became a destination venue for rock bands from across the country.  In the late 1990’s Gordon worked on the Emily of New Moon tv series for four seasons.  Subsequently, the family moved to Halifax where Gordon managed an entertainment enterprise that included the Shoe Shop, Seahorse, the Press Gang, and the Marquee. He went on to become Executive Director of Music Nova Scotia and was active in the Juno’s and the East Coast Music Awards. In 2010 he became the manager of the rock band, Gloryhound and eventually moved back to PEI, settled in Stanley Bridge, and took on the role of general manager of the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club in Summerside. He oversaw the expansion of the Silver Fox into The Silver Fox Entertainment Complex as a venue for live music and a restaurant. Gord’s knowledge of the entertainment industry and his organizational leadership made him a welcome asset to any venture. His warm, generous personality made him life-long friends wherever he went. Resting at Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, where a private family visitation and funeral service will be held.  Interment later in Peoples Cemetery, Summerside.  Memorial donations to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Gordon Lapp, the new general manager of the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club, looks over the work in progress last week in the lounge/restaurant of the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club. The refresh is the first of many changes that Lapp has planned for the facility.

He also realized, after a look around the facility, that it needed a refresh.

“I want to make the club more inclusive. I don’t mean to sound like we were exclusive, but people really looked at the Silver Fox Curling and Yacht Club and just that, a curling and yacht club,” said Lapp, its new general manager. “And why wouldn’t they? That’s what it is called.”

But the Silver Fox, soon to be rebranded the Silver Fox Entertainment Centre, “is so much more,” he added, with a restaurant, banquet and meeting space and an entertainment venue that he hopes to expand into a 200-seat cabaret-style space.
