Birt rink overcomes early deficit to steal Scotties Tournament of Hearts opener, will take on NB at 9:30 pm (Guardian)

P.E.I.’s Suzanne Birt rink persevered in its opening game of the 2021 Scotties Tournament of Hearts on Saturday.

Birt, who trailed 5-1 after four ends, rallied for a 7-6 victory over Saskatchewan’s Sherry Anderson, 

Team Birt returns to action against New Brunswick’s Melissa Adams (0-1) at 9:30 p.m., Atlantic Time.

Birt, who never led until the game’s final shot, began the comeback with a single in the fifth end to go into the break down 5-2. Birt stole a deuce in the sixth end to close to within 5-4.
