Big night for curling at Sport PEI Awards! Lauren Lenentine wins Lieutenant Governor’s and Jr. Female Athlete Awards, Brett Gallant wins Sr. Male Athlete honours

It was a big night for curling at the 47th annual Sport PEI Awards, which took place Wednesday evening at the Confederation Centre of the Arts in Charlottetown, with reigning Canadian and World Junior Champion curler Lauren Lenentine winning the Lieutenant Governor’s Award, given to the most outstanding Island athlete as selected from the Junior and Senior Athlete of the Year winners.

Lenentine also received the DP Murphy Hotels Junior Female Athlete of the Year award.

Meanwhile, Brett Gallant, who was an inspiration for Lenentine back when he won the Canadian Juniors when she was nine, and who won another Brier Canadian Men’s Championship in 2020, was the recipient of the Cox & Palmer Male Athlete of the Year Award.
